As a NYC Newborn Photographer, I have seen a variety of temperaments from babies and 2-year-olds.
This is Baby Riley. Baby Riley’s parents were the absolute most laid-back clients ever, and I am so thankful for that. Through their relaxed nature, I had the opportunity to design the session, including the colors, the props- everything!
For Baby Riley’s NYC Newborn Photography Session, I decided that we would stick to neutral colors. This includes taupes, whites, and grays, with a dash of pink and red.
The session was very natural. In the picture above, you can see that I stuck with the neutral color scheme, including a pop of orange and red. In the background, I subtly suggested that this was a fall session, through the use of pumpkins. These pumpkins are not orange, though. Instead, they match the color scheme of our session- natural colors.
Why do most newborn sessions use natural colors?
When we think of newborn sessions, we think of calming and loving. Natural colors make us calm, versus if the scenery was bright red, yellow, and gold, for example.
Natural colors are just that- natural. Since birth is such a miracle of life, natural colors make sense, keeping us close to where we originated from. Another word for “natural” is “earthy”. Since birth is a miracle of life on Earth, it only makes sense that most of our newborn colors would be “earthy”.
A Big Sis
Riley brought her older sister with her to her session. Her older sister’s name is Harper, and Harper is two years old.
When families bring toddlers into the studio, I know exactly what temperament to expect, since I have children of my own.
I have to say that Harper surprised me though! Harper was an absolute angel during our session and wanted to participate in everything with her little sister.
All in all, the session was fantastic with these two angels.
