Brooklyn Courthouse Wedding Photography: Erick & Thaliah’s Intimate Day

2026-07-22

There’s something special about a wedding where every single person in the room actually wants to be there. No filler guest list, no obligation invites — just the people who matter, gathered for two souls becoming one. That’s exactly what Erick and Thaliah gave us, and it made for one of the most genuine days we’ve had the honor of photographing.

How We Met Erick

We first crossed paths with Erick almost two years before his own wedding, when he stood as best man and witness at his sister Grecia’s wedding to Piero — view photos from Grecia and Piero’s NYC courthouse wedding. So when Erick reached out to have us photograph his own courthouse wedding to Thaliah, it felt less like booking a photographer and more like welcoming back family.

As we always do, we corresponded with Erick and Thaliah ahead of time to talk through their family structure — who would be there, how everyone was connected, and what role each person would play in the day. That conversation matters more than people realize. Knowing the relationships in the room ahead of time means we’re never scrambling to figure out who’s who on the wedding day itself — we’re already anticipating the moments that matter to them.

The Ceremony: Brooklyn Courthouse

The day began at the Brooklyn Courthouse, and rather than treating it as just a stop on the way to “real” photos, we leaned into the venue itself. The marble halls, the grand staircases, the natural light pouring through the windows — a courthouse has its own quiet elegance, and we used every bit of it.

Over the course of the ceremony, we captured:

A courthouse wedding doesn’t need a grand ballroom to feel meaningful — it just needs the right eyes behind the camera to find the story in the space.

The Portraits: DUMBO, Brooklyn

After the Brooklyn courthouse ceremony wrapped, we made the short drive to DUMBO for the second half of the day. Between the cobblestone streets, the Manhattan Bridge, and the classic waterfront views, DUMBO is one of our favorite backdrops for Brooklyn wedding portraits — and Erick and Thaliah were up for exploring as much of it as they were comfortable with.

A quick, honest note for future brides: walking a Brooklyn neighborhood in wedding heels for hours is genuinely hard work. Thaliah and Erick were absolute troopers through every pose, every angle, every “just one more” — and it paid off. The images from that afternoon tell a real story, not a staged one.

Why This Day Stood Out

Small, intimate courthouse weddings are some of our favorite events to shoot precisely because there’s no distraction — no massive guest list to manage, no rigid timeline to fight. Just two people, the family who loves them, and a city as beautiful as Brooklyn as the backdrop. Erick and Thaliah’s wedding is a perfect example of how a courthouse ceremony, paired with the right nearby location, can produce images just as rich and emotional as any traditional wedding.
