Working with newborns holds a very special place in my heart. As a mother of multiple children, I know firsthand how quickly kids grow, how difficult it is at times to recall a certain moment, and therefore how important it is to capture those moments, those milestones. As a photographer, perhaps my favorite milestone is the newborn – stage.Β A newborn baby, an addition to the family, a new page in the book also means the first family portraits.
Little behind the scene story on Zoe here: About three years ago, I had the pleasure to photograph David, the older brother π The family was a pleasure to work with… they were kind, sweet, and very respectful. I was honored when they reached out to me while expecting a little girl π
A newborn photography session, to paraphrase a movie line, ‘is somewhat like a box of chocolate, unless it’s too ol’ it should be good’. Some newborn babies are sleepier then others, some are more contempt then others, some sessions are more smoother then others, but more often then not, little ones do it allΒ and that’s ok. We still encourage parents to feel relaxed, and stress-free and we will do the best we can do deliver a beautiful gallery of their little one. Zoe, was no exception. Although she had few moments of being awake, she loved being swaddled, all cozy π and we were able to proceed with the session a baby step at a timeΒ (no pun intended). I love individuality and love bringing out the uniqueness in every session. Zoe’s dad is a kickboxer, similar to how we did with big brother David, we posed her in dad’s gloves and were able to capture this special bond that can only be understood and experienced by the two. Parents’ participation is encouraged further, mom and dad chose pink and white color schemes, which are very popular for girl-sessions. While we did martial arts for Daddy, and although Mom is also a practitioner of martial science, she loved and decided that her prop is a floral wreath, which has been a classic in our studio and is requested quite often.
Not leave out the mighty David, once Zoe was swaddled, calm, and sleepy, we got Big Bro Might D π in there. With parents who are martial artists, David and Zoe, will be kicking doors on the way of life and succeeding along.
A newborn baby is a joy in the family, a new chapter in the lives of parents and we opened that chapter with a family portrait.
I’d like to thank David’s and Zoe’s parents for choosing Picture Perfect NY to capture these special moments, its has been a pleasure to work with all of you!!!!Β If you are interested in having aΒ New York City Newborn + Family Photography session, contact us today for details!
